In just a few days WWE will be holding their next pay per view, Battleground. This is, to me, one of those throw away events that may have exciting matches but no belts will change hands. With the next pay per view being Summerslam, they can only build up here and then have some belts change hands next month.

Before we can even get started looking at the matches, let’s see who won’t be wrestling. On Monday Night Raw Ryback was injured and was told he couldn’t wrestle at Battleground. Being that Ryback is the current WWE Intercontinental champion, this also takes his opponents out of the match. There’s no reason why they would wrestle if the champion isn’t present. So Battleground has lost Ryback, The Miz and Big Show all in one fail swoop. This now leaves 20-30 minutes that needs to be filled, so look for someone to come out and then another wrestler to come out to have an impromptu match. I also don’t see that any of the WWE Divas are having a match, so look a big match to happen next month at Summerslam.

With all that being said, let us take a look at the card. This is in no particular order.

R-Truth vs. King Barrett – This is a pre-show match and I don’t feel that either of them have been making a big impact at any show. This is really anyone’s match, but I feel that R-Truth wins and then loses next month at Summerslam.

Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt – I think that Roman Reigns will win as payback for what Bray did at Money in the Bank. This will help Reigns get the crowd more on his side and put him in a good spot to have a good match at Summerslam.

The Prime Time Players vs. The New Day – The Primetime Players have been more of a Smackdown team and that’s why I haven’t seen much of them. They only recently won the titles, so a title change at this time wouldn’t make sense. I think that The Prime Time Players will retain the championship.

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus – Hey did you guys forget that Sheamus still have the Money in the Bank briefcase? Well if you did it’s ok, there really hasn’t been  any mention of it since he won it. This is a non title match so even if Randy Orton wins nothing would happen, but since he recently came back I think he’ll win this match.

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens – The past couple of matches have been good, but I think something will happen this match to cause a rematch at Summerslam. Cesaro recently was in a good match with John Cena, so maybe he interferes. I feel that Kevin Owens may win, but because of an interference there won’t be a belt change.

Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar – This match is the only one that could be a title change, but since Summerslam is next month that won’t happen. Due Lesnar messing with J&J I feel that they’ll interfere and Kane will try to do something to stop them. Rollins will win and have a rematch at Summerslam.
