I went into this pay per view with some pretty low expectations of the level of excitement and surprises that may take place. I was correct for the most part, but at the end Tables Ladders and Chairs turned out to have one of best endings I have seen in a while. I’ll get to that when I get to that match, but let’s take a look at how I did with the other matches.
Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch: This match was new to me, so I didn’t make a prediction at the time of the predictions post. I like both Banks and Lynch, but I felt that both were under performing in this match. There were a lot of holds and pausing and with both being athletic and nimble, I would’ve really like to see more movement.
The New Day vs. The Usos vs. The Lucha Dragons: I was wrong. The match went off like any other Tables, Ladders and Chairs match that involved more than two people. The New Day started out strong in the beginning, and then let The Usos and Lucha Dragons go at it while they sat by and waited. The move Sin Cara did off the top of the ladder to one of the Usos was a total Holy Crap move, and I believe was done because neither of them was going to win. Xavier Woods ended up using his trombone as a weapon to help Kofi as he climbed up and unhooked the belts.
Ryback vs. Rusev: I was right. Lana interfered in the match like I predicted and Rusev used his submission to defeat Ryback. There’s nothing really more to report on this match, because these are just two big guys performing power moves.
Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger: I was wrong. There was no interference from the League of Nations, and the constant yelling of we the people by Swagger really annoyed me. I understand it’s your go to for call and response segments, but let’s give a limit of times yelled per match. Albert Del Rio won this match with no help, which will probably be used in some speech later on.
The ECW Originals vs. The Wyatt Family: I was wrong. Sadly I was wrong and they did bring back old wrestlers to have them lose. It seems like when The Dudley Boyz are put in a match during a pay per view, something always happens. D-Von was laying on a table marked for Rowan and when he rolled off of it, the table broke. Bubba Ray had to quickly throw another table in while telling the others to keep Rowan buys. Once the table had been set up they quickly put Rowan in it. Eventually The Wyatt Family would take out all of Team ECW and win the match.
Kevin Owens vs. Dean Ambrose: I was right. This wasn’t the match of the night for me, but I did make the right prediction because Ambrose won the match. I hate to say it, but there was nothing that really stood out to me about this match, it was just Owens and Ambrose being themselves.
Charlotte vs. Paige: I was right. Ric Flair interfered with the match the whole time and it was him putting Charlottes leg on the ropes after helping expose a turn buckle that helped Charlotte win. It went from Paige being the heel and Charlotte being the face, to the complete opposite. Becky Lynch is still stuck in the middle, but Charlottes attitude will push her over the edge.
Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns: I was right. What started out as a brawl quickly involved all the available tables, ladders and chairs. Going off the marks on Sheamus’ back Roman really put a little more than normal into his power hits and was ok with causing a little blood. The match started with 40 minutes left in the pay per view, so I knew that it would end early and something would happen. It turns out I was right because The League of Nations came out to help Sheamus and even though Roman knocked out The League of Nations, he still wasn’t fast enough to stop Sheamus. During the match the crowed made it known that they didn’t want either to win, but it was at the end of the match that made the whole crowd change their mind. Roman seemed to get really mad and took out his aggression after the match had ended. Triple H came out and tried to calm down Reigns, but Roman took out his aggression on Triple H. After multiple chair shots, putting Triple H through the Spanish announce table and spearing him Roman made a comment that things had changed. This was exactly what was needed and now Roman can pursue his road to Wrestlemania with the backing of the crowd. If they needed Roman to be put over, mission accomplished.
