I’m all for nostalgia and I’ll sit and watch old shows and movies for the memories that come with them, but that doesn’t always mean we need a reboot, remake or spin off. A few weeks ago when I wrote about the Jumanji reboot, the list that it was on also had Bad Boys 3 and now I’m hearing that there is also a Bad Boys 4 being talked about.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are not young men anymore and they sure as hell aren’t in the best of shape, at least Martin Lawrence isn’t. Even if this followed them in their current state, it would look very reminiscent of the movie Wild Hogs. Maybe Will Smith could pull off a convincing police officer at his age, but for all I can see Lawrence doing is sitting behind a desk and saying catch phrases from other movies like “beliee dat”.
In TV news, yesterday TVline reported that Will Smith would is in talks to produce a spin off of the show that made him, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. First and foremost I think this is a bad idea because the one character that made the show isn’t with us anymore, I’m talking about Uncle Phil. Even though this is suppose to be a new family with a new twist you’re still going to look at the new father figure and compare him to Unlce Phil. The only way this is going to work is if the title doesn’t reflect the original title, and if either of his kids aren’t in it.
