Before there everything was awesome with the LEGO movie, there were just awesome LEGO’s. Growing up LEGO’s were a part of every child’s life, from the bigger Duplo blocks to the well known smaller iconic LEGO pieces. No matter what you were into there was a LEGO set that fit your needs. It didn’t matter what era or genre it was from, whether it was from space or middle earth, LEGO was always there with you.

Ever since the LEGO movie came out there has been a resurgence of LEGO fever, but what about those people who were there from the beginning? The people who the LEGO movie described as master builders and not only see the picture on the front of the box but see what they can combine with other sets. The community I’m speaking of is part of a new documentary called Beyond the Brick: A Lego Brickumentary and it covers the obsession of fans and what has come from LEGO’s. You’ll get to see first hand what people have made with sets you and I may have in our closets and the conventions where they all come together and swap ideas and sell creations. Right now the trailer is available, but the actual documentary will be available on July 31.
