Word on the street is that the third Tron movie is probably not going to happen. The first movie came out in the 80’s and gained popularity in a very specific audience. When the follow up movie came was released in 2010 the audience grew bigger, because it was cool to love old movies that were getting their stories continued even though half of those people never saw the original. In fact I bet that if you sat a 15-24 year old person that was excited for Tron Legacy in front of the original Tron, they would be bored out of their mind. When the love for Tron Legacy erupted, I saw hints of the same attitude that The Phantom Menace received. The same people were quick to jump on the Star Wars band wagon only to jump off as soon as they heard people bad mouthing it because they had no basis to go off of.

Who, in your circle of friends, has been talking about Tron lately? I wonder if the people who love Tron are hanging out with the people who love Avatar and hanging out in a corner not talking about either. No one has been talking about Tron, so news that the third one may not come out shouldn’t really bother anyone? Did you know that a third one was being made?

I believe that a shoulder shrug is the necessary response to this news if it’s true. The game was crap, the level in Kingdom Hearts 2 was decent and the third movie not coming out is probably the best thing for the franchise.
