In my opinion FOX hasn’t had the best track record when it comes to live action prime time shows. There were some gems like House, Arrested Development, Married with Children and Firefly, and there are a few current shows that are really killing it like Gotham and Brooklyn Nine Nine. FOX’s consistent hits come from Sunday’s animation shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons. Past shows, such as the aforementioned Arrested Development and Firefly, were taken off the air even thought they were extremely popular much like the show Prison Break. Prison Break wasn’t a show that I watched when it was on, but I do see a huge following at conventions and online. One of the lead actors in that show, Wentworth Miller, is now Captain Cold on CW‘s Flash. I guess FOX has taken note that they only have one comic book based show, and are looking to capitalize on Wentworth Miller and the fact that another X-Men movie is coming out. Earlier this year there were talks that a live action X-Men show might happen, but only recently did they enter final negotiations. It was also announced today that FOX is bringing back Prison Break for a 10 episode season.

As I mentioned above I never watched Prison Break, but I do know Wentworth Miller dies at the end. The 10 episode run will be about the final break, but the story arc where Miller dies may be retold to keep him alive. Both Miller and Dominic Purcell have confirmed a return to the show. As of right now there is not a set return date.

Fox is in final negotiations with Marvel for rights to make an X-Men show that will not cross over with any of the other movies. Luckily Marvel has a ton of universes, so we could see the same characters in the show that we see in the movies. This could also be a great outlet to showcase Miles MoralesUlitimate Spider-Man as a guest for a multi-episode story arc. The X-Men also have their fair share of members, enough to have Wolverine start his own school named after Jean Grey. They could easily pluck out some C grade mutants and have them form a team to battle little known members from the Brotherhood of Mutants. You probably won’t be seeing any of the main Blue or Gold team, but I do want to see how this show will do against Gotham. Fox will be the first channel to have shows from both DC and Marvel, I wonder if the audience will be split. Right now they are in negotiations and no set date has been given.
