Over the weekend the Box Office twitter accounts dropped some news concerning Fox and their upcoming movies. According to the tweet, Fox has removed Gambit from their release schedule and added two more unknown movies to the roster.

With Deadpool crossing the $600 Million dollar mark worldwide, I feel that Fox may just be playing it safe. X-Men:Apocalypse is coming out in a few months and I feel that this may be the weakest of the three young X-Men movies. In all fairness I am only judging this based on the commercials I’ve seen and the Apocalypse‘s costume, also that one part where the grey sky green screen shot is in the back looks amateur at best. I feel that there is a part of them that hears all the complaints and thinks that this may not be as profitable as the earlier two, and then they started looking at their future comic book related movies. Right now Deadpool is the hot ticket item and they have to keep this momentum going, but not by releasing a movie that doesn’t tie into Deadpool. Audiences who never watched a comic book movie before Deadpool now know who Deadpool is, and the next movie that comes out from Fox or Sony without being tied to Deadpool may cause that audience to not come back. This is why the two possible unknown movies coming out will be The New Mutants and Deadpool 2.

It was reported last year that The New Mutants would be a spin off movie, and with Deadpool 2 featuring Cable and The New Mutants being where Deadpool first appeared this may be Fox’s way to keep the ball rolling. I believe 2017 will bring Deadpool 2, featuring Cable, and the teaser will be The New Mutants which will then be released in 2018.
