For those of you who didn’t see Galaxy Quest in the theaters, I’m going to go out on a limb and say you missed out on a great theater experience. Now if you haven’t seen Galaxy Quest on cable, then there’s something wrong with you because it’s always on. To the rest of the people who have never even heard of Galaxy Quest, but like Science Fiction movies, take some time to watch it tonight with the family. You will get to see a group of actors who have moved onto some amazing projects, younger and in smaller roles they’d probably never reprise. If your curious about the story and have watched any episode of Star Trek, then be curious no longer as they are pretty much the same thing. Galaxy Quest was about a cast of actors who were on a Star Trek like show and now do the convention rounds. During one of these conventions an alien invasion starts and the cast gets kidnapped and the movie revolves around them stopping the aliens while taking up the real life version of their TV characters. The movie was funny and had a great cast including Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell and even Justin Long. All of these actors had huge TV and movie careers since this movie, but it’s funny to think that at one time they all did this goofy space movie together.
Well the cast may not all be back but, according to Variety, there will be a Galaxy Quest TV show happening. It seems that no details have been given, but from the cast of the movie I believe on Tim Allen and Tony Shallhoub are the only two who have worked on TV shows lately. This doesn’t mean that they’ll be back for the TV show, but there is always a person or two who can be linked from the movie. When more information surfaces I’ll let you all know.
