Being developed by Stupid Stupid Games for Steam, and hopefully making it’s way to Steam Greenlight before it closes, Johnny Graves: The Unchosen One is a top down shooter where you use gun magic to kill over sized monsters in the city. This is the first game from developer Stupid Stupid Games, and they joke that because the game has taken a long time to develop their studio name is very relevant.
Here’s some back story on Johnny Graves: The Unchosen One
A usurper sits on Satan’s throne, and the cold feud between Hell’s two most ancient families has escalated to all-out civil war. This war, that has ravaged Hell for over two centuries, spread to Earth some time ago. Johnny, the son of the old Satan, yet paradoxically, a freelance agent for the good guys, is sent to stop the diabolical plans of the new party in power coming true. Johnny fights his way through the front lines of both sides to reach the grave of the original Satan, who is entombed there, but not quite dead…
When I first saw the character drawing and the title, it reminded me of how a game based on the DC comic book character Constantine would look like if he had been given his own game. As I mentioned there will be gun magic, which is close enough to be a black mage for the game to gain all my interest. I’d also like to mention that I am partial to top down dungeon crawlers, and even though this looks to take place in a city I still want to see what it can do. An upgradable gun along with huge spider, which I personally hate, is something I can get behind. The fact that this game is also being slated for Spring is also something to be excited for as this game as it means it’s pretty much done. If anything we’ll be getting a few more trailers and updates on Stupid Stupid Games website.
