It looks like the gaming train is gaining momentum as we are getting bombarded with release dates of anticipated games. In this case I wanted to focus on Mirrors Edge Catalyst, which is the sequel to Mirrors Edge which I played on my Xbox 360. I’m sure there have been other first person games out there other than shooters, but Mirrors Edge is the first one that I have played. I was working overnight at a helpdesk when it came out and I was able to bring my Xbox 360 and hook it up to a projector that was available, so I binge played the game over a few shifts and I had a blast.
The sequel was teased and today the official trailer to Mirrors Edge Catalyst was released along with some other interesting information.
The game looks beautiful with views from atop high rise buildings while walking along scaffolding. The same look and feel of the first game comes back, but this time you have two male companions instead of the lone female. I hope that this opens up at least three player multiplayer in the game when it comes out, racing and defying gravity by finding the quickest way over something would look great if coordinated properly. You also get to hop rides on drones, which may be a funny call back to the first game where leap off a building and onto a helicopter.
The first game made my hands sweaty and my stomach drop when I fell off buildings and I really hope this game gives me the same feeling. It will be released on May 24 for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 but you can sign up for the closed beta here and try to get some hands one prior to the release.
