For the first time WWE broadcast one of their over seas house shows live over the WWE Network. When I first heard this was happening I knew something had to be up. If you’re unfamiliar with the terminolgy, a house show is a traveling show that is done on the days that Monday Night Raw and Smackdown aren’t taped. There is usually an A and B team of superstars that travel around to these small arenas, competing in matches that are out of story line and are there to sell merchandise and promote the WWE.
The show WWE broadcast from Tokyo on Julth 4th was called The Beast In The East, but Brock Lesnar was going up against Kofi Kingston and their match was in the middle of the card. If you really thought that Kofi was going to cause any damage to Brock, then you’re probably a really new WWE viewer. The match was a true David vs. Goliath, but in this case Goliath man handled and beat David.
Out of all the matches that took place, the NXT championship between Kevin Owens and Finn Balor was the best one. In fact they should have renamed this event to something that revolved around NXT. This match was the only one that mattered, because it’s the only one that is going to affect the story line. Ever since the feud between Kevin Owens and John Cena has been happening, Owens has had the NXT championship belt. That belt was really the only thing holding Kevin Owens back from fully exiting NXT and entering the main WWE roster full time.
Now that Balor has defeated and taken the NXT championship from Owens, the feud with Cena can move forward. I don’t want to take anything from Finn Balor, he’s a charismatic wrestler with respect for the WWE universe. I don’t watch much of NXT or keep up with other wrestling organizations, but from what was shown during the show Finn is very popular in Japan. During his New Japan Pro Wrestling days he was known as Prince Devitt, which is a derivative of his true name Fergal Devitt. He spent many years wrestling smaller shows, before he signed with WWE and became part of NXT. He is now the NXT champion and in about a year or two you’ll see him in the WWE main roster.
