A while ago I wrote about Hulu changing their plans and offering a commercial free pay plan for Hulu Plus. Well, yesterday was the day that they official rolled it out and it’s not that bad. I immediately changed my plan, because I have a lot of past seasons in my queue and waiting for commercials is like 30 seconds of death to my eyes and ears. So now instead of $7.99 I pay $11.99, which is less than Netflix and I get to watch current shows the next day.
Hulu is also starting to produce their own programming, so if I get in now then later down the line I could possibly be grandfathered in when they start making a lot more original programming and charging more.
I decided to test my new fan plan at the gym and it was great. I was able to catch up on some episodes of Venture Bros. while on the elliptical and I didn’t see a single commercial. There was a second or two of black where the commercials would be, but I was ok with it.
The $7.99 plan is still available, if you don’t mind commercials and the upgrade is not forced, it’s all up to you. The one thing I can say is that now that I have experienced a commercial free Hulu Plus, I won’t be going back.
