The last time we saw any type of Avengers footage was when we saw Captain America and Falcon confront Bucky during the end credit’s scene of Ant-Man. We saw Falcon standing guard at the new Avengers facility during the Ant-Man movie and he did make mention that he was on a mission during Age of Ultron, so where the hell does Civil War fit in. We know it’s after Age of Ultron and Ant-Man looks to be right before the beginning of Civil War, because during an interview with CB the Russo Brothers let us know how much time had passed.
We like to say that the amount of time that has passed in between films is the amount of time that has passed in the movies…So, it’s about that amount time. We find Cap leading the Avengers. He’s tutoring or mentoring Scarlet Witch in the beginning of the movie and bringing her into the fold. We find them on a mission at the start of the film. The effect that Ultron has had on everyone certainly is central to the storytelling of the movie. It’s very strong. We’re dealing with issues of collateral damage, imperialism, what rights do super heroes have to pursue villains across borders. It’s very politically minded. Cap’s dealing with all of that at the beginning.
I didn’t hear any mention of Cap and Falcon’s Bucky mission from Ant-Man, so I’m still going with right before the happenings of Civil War.
