During E3 in 2014 a beautiful looking trailer was shown and the graphics immediately caught my attention. The Xbox One had already come out and my day one edition was sitting in my living room, and ready to play all the new games coming out for it. When I saw this trailer I knew I wanted to play this game, but I was still watching to know what I was looking at. After two characters started glowing and throwing fireballs, I thought this was a love letter to Dragon Ball or something based on an Anime show I had never seen. When all was said and done Phantom Dust appeared on the screen, sadly a year later the studio making the game shut down and it seemed like the game that this trailer was for would never be on my Xbox One.

I was surprised to learn that last week Microsoft filed a trademark for Phantom Dust, it seems like the game is back on.

Last year Microsoft ended their relationship with the studio who was working on the game, and as of this filing they have not provided on any plans for this game to be finally released. If they do bring this project back to life, it’ll look a whole lot better. If  you go back and play Dead Rising on the Xbox 360 and then play any game that was released last year you’d think it was a different machine. If you do want to get your fix of Phantom Dust, you can play the first on the original Xbox. The servers have been taken offline, but I’m sure you can still enjoy the main campaign.
