With all the Pokemon 20th anniversary happenings going on, I thought I would take this time to go back and play the first Pokemon game I ever owned. I recently recorded a video with Dre where we talk about our Pokemon experiences and history with the franchise, so I won’t go into too much detail here about that.
I will tell you that this game is just as addicting as it was back when I first got it in high school. Everything about this game was so simplistic. The dialogue was hand holding at it’s core, and the text was short and with small words so that it could easily be read by young kids. When Pokemon was created they knew exactly who their audience was and made sure to do everything they could to keep that audience interested.
Putting Pikachu as your main Pokemon, and best friend, wasn’t just a marketing ploy to get a third game out of a franchise who’s Red and Blue version were doing just fine. This was actually a way to make the cartoon that was created make more sense and to also sell the game. I didn’t jump onto the Pokemon train until it was about a year old in my area and after I got the Yellow version I was hooked.
I played the game about an hour and didn’t know how long I should keep playing for. I didn’t want this to turn into a unncessary walk through, but if you guys want me to play through the whole game and record it just let me know and I can arrange for it to be put up in hour long pieces.
