Since The Hulk won’t be in Guadians of the Galaxy 2 and the Bruce Banner Hulk probably won’t make an appearance in Captain America 3: Civil War, I figure I’d show some love and play through his game on the Sega Genesis. As I have mentioned before, I grew up solely on Nintendo, so all of the Sega Games are pretty much new to me.

If you need a backstory you’re not going to find one here. In fact you better be good at piecing things together, because you get a few panels of artwork showing a man go from normal to green and then the game starts. For some reason you have gone past Bruce Banner and right to Hulk as you punch robots who’s bullets actually hurt you. Who these robots work for and what they’re shooting you with is beyond me, and probably beyond everyone who plays this game because it’s never said. You have a few attacks that require you to be near an enemy, but with these robots having guns it’s a little hard. When getting close you’ll either punch them until they explode or grab them an headbutt them, but a headbutt doesn’t kill them so you have to keep doing it. The level I played had you go through underground pipes to get to secret rooms and to advance in the level, they were used for nothing else. Your health starts at a decent amount, but you can pick up green pills to increase it, in face there’s a whole section in your health bar dedicated to getting more health. There are also tokens with the letter “T” on them and pink and red pills, but you’re never told how to use them if they can be used. The first level’s enemies are the same ones over and over again, either a mobile robot shooting you or a stationary robot shooting you. In the second part of the level there are human construction workers shooting metal balls from their cement mixers, but none of them are punchable.

The biggest flaw in this game is the fact that you have to be close to an enemy to hurt them, there’s no way to do it without getting hit. There are also small pips that you may be able to walk through, but I couldn’t. I tried every combination on my control to walk through the pipe, but was unable to.

This game isn’t that good, the story telling is absent and the controls aren’t very user friendly. You’ll spend a few minutes trying to learn any and all button combinations to find moves to help you, but in the end the enemies will shoot you and you’ll die a slow painful boring death.
