Yesterday Playstation took the first step at bringing Playstation VR to your home byt finally announcing when the Playstation VR would be out and what it would cost you. Playstation has essentilaly thrown down the gauntlet to Xbox One, who has not revelaed a price or release date of Hololens.
The price is currently set at $399 and it was revealed shortly after the the Playstation Camera would be needed but not included

Back in January we did a Media Discussion all about 2016 being the year of Virtual Reality and towards the end we broke down how much it would cost to have a console and VR companion at home.
We speculated that it would cost about $1000 if you don’t already have a console, and after I broke it down after the announcement today we were pretty much right.
Playstation 4 – $350+
Playstation VR – $399
Playstation Camera – $45
Playstation Move – $30
Game – $60
At nearly $900 the Playstation VR will be a costly peropheral because it’s not stand alone, and if you were waiting for a console to announce VR to get one then you better start saving now.
