Dre and I jumped into Skatesterre, an arcade skateboarding game starring Dutch skater Sterre Meijer, and it didn’t take long before we started calling it TONYA HAWK PRO SKATER. 😂
Seriously… we’ve seen this before.
The levels? Familiar.
The objectives? Familiar.
The tricks and combos? Familiar.
The punk-rock soundtrack? VERY familiar.
The big difference? Instead of having a roster of skaters to choose from, you’re riding as Sterre.
To be fair, Skatesterre isn’t exactly hiding its influences. It’s built as a throwback to the classic arcade skateboarding games of the late ’90s and early 2000s, and boyyyyy does it commit to the assignment.
But does being heavily inspired by Tony Hawk automatically make it bad? Or is there enough here to make Skatesterre worth playing on its own?
